Who and what is behind Von Tiling? Von Tiling - here the will to rethink fashion is combined with a love of nature and a fascination for the secrets of this earth.
Made under decent conditions and controlled, from the raw material to the arrival at the buyer. Handpicked works of art from all over the world and stories of foreign cultures.
Inspired by this idea Alexander Prinz, many as “Der Dunkle Parabelritter" (Wikipedia) and as the founder of Silence Magazines known and Jörn Rohrberg (FB page), Designer, Shirt Enthusiast and Concept Designer.
In the course of their many years of experience with both sides of the fashion world as well as in their fields of study, they believed the time had come that questioned far too seldom, but unfortunately morally questioned and morally for the two unsustainable aspects of the production and sale of clothing in many areas to rethink.
They wanted to incorporate their fascination with culture.
After a year of research, long nights full of planning work, correspondence, crumpled notes and detailed preparation, ways and possibilities were finally found here to ultimately realize this idea. Then in April 2017 the ship was proudly and boldly let out of the dry dock and hoped that the wild water of the world out there would carry it.
The result is now visible on vontiling.de. Curated designs, sustainable and fair production and the proximity to the customer.
We want to solve problems and find new ways - whether in shirt production or “just” in the online shop. There are enough old and tedious solutions. The world can become better.
What speaks for Von Tiling? We have the same high standards for our products as we do ourselves!
Therefore, we attach great importance to the following characteristics throughout the chain of the path of all our products:
• Sustainable
• High quality and fair produced
• GOTS certified, CO2 reduced production
• only organically produced textiles
• The product is not printed until the order is placed, nothing is produced “on stockpile” because of the costs
• unique designs by artists from around the world
How fair are the shirts? We only work with fair trade traded shirts.
These are also mostly made of organic cotton, sometimes with shares of Tencel or stretch additions.
But there is still the following to know:
What are the general properties of cotton?
• this is particularly durable / hard-wearing, as well as very tear and abrasion resistant
skin-friendly, does not scratch, low allergy potential, soft feeling on the skin
• It can absorb up to 65 percent of its own weight in water - so it is very absorbent (when swimming it is rather bad 😉)
• this ensures that it dries more slowly (as there can be a lot more water after rain, etc.)
• it is air-permeable, not heat-insulating - thus perfect for not breaking a sweat, but insensitive to sweat and alkalis (if you do sweat ... or work in the laboratory)
• funfact: in the wet / wet state more tear-resistant than in the dry!
How sustainable is organic cotton?
+ because it is very hard-wearing and long-lasting - a plus in durability
+ Biodegradable, since mostly cellulose, not tons of microplastic as plastic clothing
+ no use of pesticides and mineral oil fertilizers - good for people and the environment
- high water consumption but less through the whole process than normal production
- There are in Germany bwz. Central Europe not a regional (organic) cotton growing region
How do I care for my cotton T-shirt? To wash:
It is best to wash a shirt with motif only at 30 degrees Celsius.
There are no special Waschababe needed. So no optical brightener or stain salts.
Dry:
Organic cotton does not have any “crass” pre-treatment, so it is not suitable for tumble drying

Why are the mailing bags made of “plastic”? The bags that are used for shipping our items are made of PE (Polyethylene). There are also PVC bags on the market, but PVC is really the black sheep of the packaging materials and is not used by the affiliated service providers.
Our bags are made explicitly of polyethylene. Why is there a lot to read, but you should like to take the time:
Polyethene (PE) is one of the most commonly produced plastics. It burns without residue and is a much more environmentally friendly alternative to other substances.
Why is that?
• Bioplastics are (mostly) made from corn, which is much more energy hungry and also consumes valuable arable land.
• Paper bags are more environmentally friendly, but paper bags have to be used several times to be more environmentally friendly, which usually fails because they (especially after mail transport) already kinks, cracks or similar. and then usually have been weggeworden.
Likewise: is holiday business and / or the postman has a stressful day (which is unfortunately often like that) can tear a paper bag also faster - so get foreign matter to the goods, it gets dirty and you like the torn and with Gaffa makeshift patched package hardly accept.
Are paper bags the only alternative? Basically, there are paper bags, as I said, but it is often so that they tear faster and multiple use is thus rarely given. Furthermore, when packaging here (we have also learned) - special occupational safety required, since the risk of cutting is always there and thus packing here a) longer and b) must be done with gloves. If then several items come in a bag and possibly even hang tags on it's time to break something quickly. Unpleasant, insecure and more or less not directly more environmentally friendly.
Will there be T-shirts without printed label names? Briefly: Probably not.
The longer ones: We see the concept of motif and label name as one optical unit, as we are very inspired by typical band shirts. Of course, this does not rule out that in the future there will certainly be motifs without lettering.
However, we see it as part of our brand identity and distinctiveness, as the motifs we use are not a common sight.
There will always be news - it is best to subscribe to ours Newsletter not to miss anything here.
If produced only for me, can I return the shirt? Here is first to say: Yes, of course you can return your shirt. As with any other online purchase, this is also here under German law with the right to return.
However, we suggest that you check the size charts beforehand and see exactly what size you have. The shirt, hoodie or zipper that you like to return, we can not put 1: 1 back on sale. To protect the environment (Load through production processes, additional resources and also through the shipping route) and also our effort (Returns mean a lot of organization and communication), we strive to keep the returns rate low.
We think the wearers of the shirts are not caught up in the FastFashion idea - so we look at a very low quota and this to 99% combined with a very pleasant communication.
How can I know the correct size before ordering? Before retracing the favorite shirt and comparing also lowers the frustration of those who ordered and spares nature.
In the case of a return, we can therefore only refund the cost of the shirt. Shipping costs are excluded (please refer Terms and conditions), When exchanging this is basically the same, but exceptions may happen here in the communication process.
Ultimately, we want the best for everyone: The nature, the seamstresses, the customers, the designers of the shirts.
As you can safely imagine, it must of course be bearable for us by the cost and effort, therefore, rather once more looked at the size chart - the sooner you have the perfect shirt for you, which also fits directly and makes you happy.
